Saying goodbye to summer

So, unfortunately, summer is coming to its end. It’s really tragic, I know, I’m actually two weeks away from going back to school and, honestly, I’m not ready hahaha!

To “celebrate” the end of summer, I baked this gorgeous, fruity and summery cake. This Peach Carrot cake with Cream Cheese frosting is from Call me Cupcake blog, you can find it here.

Although I’m not ready for the routine to start again, after summer comes autumn and, after that, christmas. And those, are my favorite seasons and I can’t wait to Deck the halls!

I hope you’ve had an amazing summer and a very chill return to whatever you do!

Closed for holidays

Did I come back? Sure I did not. I tell you in my last pots that since it’s summer, I would blog more. Summer is about to finish and I have not blogged. I’m sorry, I don’t want to make an excuse, it’s all my fault.

Right now I’m on a family holiday to Sweden (YAY!!!) but I promise that when I come back I will be full-on blogging (fingers crossed I actually do).

Those where amazing, sunday brunch is my fav!

That’s all for now! I hope you’re having an amazing summer, tell me what you on about this summer in the comments and (if you want) follow me on my social!

Honey Yoghurt Berry Popsicles

I know I’ve been out for months but, in my excuse, I’m like an animal, I have to hibernate. Now that’s summer I can come back to life.DSC_2811

Talking serious now, I haven’t blogged in soooo long, I had uni and a quite changing life decision to make, which I have made, and I didn’t feel inspirited enough to write, so sorry!

I’m re-starting as I first did, with a recipe! I’m not a massive fan of ice creams, I can’t eat them actually (I’m lactose intolerant), but as the heat rises I wanted something cold and tasty for my mouth. These popsicles are made with seasonal berries and so delicious!

Ingredients (For 4 popsicles):

(I actually used lactose-free yoghurt)

  • 1 cup of greek yoghurt (I mixed normal and strawberry yoghurt)
  • 1/2 cup of raw honey
  • 1/2 cup of mixed berries
  • Some mint (optional)

  1. Mix in a bowl both yoghurts and honey.
  2. Fold the berries and mint (in small pieces).
  3. Pour into popsicles molds and freeze over night.

Hope you liked them. Please leave a comment with your opinion. I want to do a Q&A soon, leave a question too!

10 songs I can’t live without

So, a while ago I wrote a post about my 2016 resolutions and I mentioned the possibility of writing a post about my top 10 songs. A friend of mine mentioned that she really wanted to read a post like that and, Anna, here it is!PicCollage.jpgThis songs aren’t on a particular order, just the way they came to my mind.

  1. Paris in June-Johnnyswim
  2. Coming Home-The Pete Kilpatrick Band
  3. Catch in the dark-Passenger
  4. Sweet Louise-The Belle Brigade
  5. Our last summer-Abba
  6. Classy Girls-The Lumineers
  7. Between the Bars-Eliott Smith
  8. Way back When-Kodaline
  9. Where are you now-Mumford and Sons
  10. I hate seagulls-Kate Nash

I made a Spotify playlist, if you want to listen to this songs just click here or here!

It was quite difficult to chose only 10 songs, there’s way too many which I wanted to include. If you want me to make this post again but with different songs let me know in the comments!

See you soon!

A few beauty favourites

I’m back and I want to rock it. I’ve finished my exams and I want to invest more (some) time writing blogposts.

Today I want to show you my last purchases or, with different words, some beauty favourites. I’m not talking of high end products, just some one that can be easily found in drugstores.

close up.jpgI heart Makeup Blushing Hearts-Goddess of Love Highlighter: Okay, let me talk about this. OMG, this is the most precious highlighter ever. Maybe it has too much shimmer (if that’s possible), but I can’t wait to use it in summer, when I’m a little bit tanner.

I heart Makeup-I heart Definition:I bought it mainly for the contour. I’ve got mine in Fair as I’m the palest person in this world and I have to say that I’m pretty happy about it.

Garnier Original Remedies: I’ve owned this now for months and I can’t live without it. I use it after shower and my hair hasn’t been better.

Bestie Dry shampoo: I’ve got a confession to make. I’ve never owned a dry shampoo ’til now.  We don’t get them in Spain but I found them in drugstore last week. I really like it, I’ve got a floral scent and it’s a little bit too much, I really want to try the original scent.

Ultra Facial Oil free Lotion: This product is more of the pricy side but amazing. I’ve got oily skin with acne and this keeps me moisturized but don’t make me breakout.

The falsies-Maybelline: I can’t say a lot about this product as I’ve recently purchased it but I’ve got high hopes about it.

The Nudes palette: The colors, is all about this colors. I’m so glad I bought it I used every time I wear makeup. They’re a little bit dusty but as a high street palette it’s ok.

That’s everything. Let me know in the comments any products that you think I should try.

Love, Marta.

It’s been two weeks since my last post, I know, already falling in my new year’s resolutions… I’m hopeless!

But, here I am, I managed to find a little time for a quick post in all my messy life! (Papers, exams and due dates are the reason of my disappearance, I’m drowning in responsibilities). Today I wanted to talk a little bit about me, so I’m answering some questions.

  • Who are you? My name is Marta. I’m 18 and I’m on my first year of uni. I live, and always had, in Barcelona (a beautiful city that I want to show you!)
  • What do you do? As I said, I’m on my first year at university. I’m studying Biomedical science and not really enjoying it at all. I’m considering a big change in my life (if you want to know more ask me anything!). I also work part-time in a music academy as a flute teacher.
  • What’s your go to make up look? Nude, golden kind of browny eyeshadow, mascara, concealer, blush and nude-pinky lips. Very simple.
  • What’s your favorite music? Pop-Indie. I’m planning to do a top-10 songs in my life post, would you like it?
  • Last thing I bought: Maybelline eyeshadow palette. The Nudes. It’s such a beautiful palette and I’m absolutely obsessed.
  • Summer or Winter? Winter. Without any doubt. I’m all about cozy pj’s and scarfs. And christmas!
  •  All time favorite tv show? Gilmore Girls.
  • 5 random things about me:
  1. I can’t touch my bellybutton, it makes me feel sick.
  2. I wear glasses only when I work on computers.
  3. I’m 24/7 listening to music.
  4. I’ve got my baby dolls in a shell in my bedroom.
  5. I don’t really enjoy partying.

That’s all!

Actually, I had such fun writing this and I would love reading yours, if you want to do it in the comments or in a blogpost…

Love x

Happy new year!

So, today’s the 1st of January 2016. Today’s the first day of a new year, of a new adventure.

As everybody does, I made my New year’s resolutions. (I never keep them) and I thought of sharing them with you:

  • Work on myself.
  • Discover more food places.
  • Mosturize more.
  • Paint and be more creative.
  • Procrastinate less.
  • Put time and effort to the blog.
  • Worry less.
  • Say no if I want to.
  • Laugh more.

I tried to keep them realistic but it ended up in a ridiculous amount.

There’s a quote by Elizabeth Gilbert that I turned into my 2016’s “mantra”.

If you want to download the poster you can find it here.

I hope your year is a really good one and I will love to know about your resolutions in the comments.

Love xx

Happy Christmas everyone! I hope that you have spent a beautiful time and enjoyed the season of love and joy.

I really love Christmas, it’s my favorite time of the year and I thought of showing you some snaps I made these days (photos made with a phone).

Let’s wish for an awesome new year and I will see you soon!

Homemade Lavender bath scrub

Christmas is literally just around the corner  and this is the perfect moment for easy, quick and homemade gifts.

Today I want to show you a relaxing bath scrub made with 3 simple ingredients. This scrub would make a perfect gift for a friend, a teacher or even for Secret Santa!

Lavender is known to have relaxing proprieties so this bath scrub is perfect before bed time and it will help you to have a perfect night sleep.

Using it is as easy as rub into the skin before shower or bath and let the smell of Lavender relax your senses.

  • 2 1/2 cups of normal sugar (you can use white or brown)
  • 1/2 cup of coconut oil
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of Lavender essential oil
  • Purple food coloring (optional)

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Add as much Lavender essential oil as you want. Do not melt the coconut oil because it will dissolve the sugar.

Put the mixture in a mason jar or in any cute storage. To make it a little more fancy I crated a label for it. You can download it here.

That’s all!

Have a jolly merry christmas and I’ll see you in my next post!

Earl Grey Cupcakes

Welcome to A spoonful of goodies. I was very doubtful about what my first post should be and I decided to go with a big ol’ cupcake recipe.

You should be thinking: what? cupcakes? that’s soo old fashioned… Maybe but I don’t really care. Cupcakes are one of my favourite cakes, they are the reason of my baking (little) journey and they deserve the first post!

This are Earl Grey cupcakes (yeah, very british).

This recipe is an adaption of Cupcake Jemma‘s Earl Grey cupcakes.

(makes about 10 cupcakes)

  • 150ml of  whole milk
  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 125g of usaltedbutter (I used margarine)
  • 125g of flour. Sifted.
  • 125g of Caster sugar. (I mixed brown and normal sugar)
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp of bicarbonate soda
  • 2 free-range eggs

  1. Preheat the oven at 170ºC
  2. Heat the milk until almost boiling. Pour the two tea bags and let it infused for 3-5 minutes. Retire the tea bags and let it until cool.
  3. In a large bowl pour the butter, flour, sugar, bicarbonate sugar and the two eggs.
  4. Mix it for 60 seconds with an stand mixer or a hand mixer.
  5. Pour 1/3 of the infused milk and mix again until combined.
  6. Fill a 12 cupcake tin (with cases on it) until 3/4 of each cupcake case is full.
  7. Bake them for about 20-22 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.

I’m not a big fan of buttercream and I decided not to decorate my cakes. Although, I will leave here a buttercream perfect for this precious and soft cakes.

  • 150g of unsalted butter
  • 340g of icing sugar
  • 2/3 of the infused milk from the batter.

(Make sure to let your cakes cool completely before decorating them)

That’s all! Give them a go and I will see you in my next post.

Happy baking! x
